Safe Sitter Registration Set for May 21

Community Nurses, Inc., an affiliate of the Elk Regional Health System, will be offering Safe Sitter classes to boys and girls between the ages of 11 and 15 this summer.

Safe Sitter is a medically accurate, hands-on class that teaches boys and girls between the ages of 11 and 15 how to handle emergencies when caring for children. Children cannot always communicate their needs or protect themselves, which means the babysitter must be able to handle whatever situation arises.

Registration for the Safe Sitter program will be held Tuesday, May 21 between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Community Nurses office in St. Marys, which is located on the second floor of the Outpatient Rehabilitation Building behind the Health Center. A parent or guardian must accompany the student to registration. A $25 fee is due at registration.

The Safe Sitter class is a one-day class. Classes will be held on June 6 and July 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the St. Marys Boys & Girls Club.

Classes are limited to 12 students.
