This year, Elk Regional Health System is celebrating 110 years of service to the residents of Elk and Cameron counties and the surrounding region. As part of the Health System’s year-long anniversary celebration, student artists from each of the area high schools have been invited to participate in Elk Regional’s 110th Anniversary Art Contest.
Entries must represent the importance of health care in our region or illustrate some portion of the history of Elk Regional Health System. Entries must be photographs, paintings, drawings, or sculptures.
Works of art must be original works created by the student and may not contain any copyrighted, registered, or trademarked material. In addition, entries may not contain or allude to nudity.
In order for their entry to be accepted into the contest, artists must also write a statement of originality of no more than 200 words in length describing the inspiration for the piece.
The deadline for students to submit their entries to high school art teachers is Thursday, March 29. Entries will be picked up from the schools on Friday, March 30.
One winner from each participating high school will be selected by a panel of judges whose members will be named at a later date.
All entries will be featured in an Art Gallery Open House that will be held at Elk Regional Health Center in May. In addition, each winner will receive a $100 prize.
Photographs of the winning entries will be published in the July 2012 edition of Elk Regional’s community newsletter, “We Are Elk Regional,” which is sent to 22,000 households throughout the region. Winning entries will also be featured on the Health System’s social media profiles, including its Facebook page, its Twitter profile, and its official blog.
